😢Of course not everyone has the luxury, but it is something we should aim for if we can. If we are so lucky to live a calm stress free life we should use our time and resources to help others.

🧠Not until I looked deeper into our eldest daughter’s behaviour and strong feelings did I understand how important our mental health is and that we care for and support them with their emotional regulation. I also had no idea how everything is connected to our childhood. Undealt with stress stays within our bodies into adulthood…

We always hear about how wonderful it is to become a parent, but never how challenging it can be. One of the hardest parts is actually being aware of your own emotions and having healthy emotional intelligence. Children are not difficult they need to be guided and how are we to guide them properly if we cannot control our own emotions⁉️

All feelings are valid and normal. It also only takes 90 seconds to process an emotion. Rather than telling kids to just “stop it” , “stop crying” we need to empathise and validate how they are feeling. Can we please stop calling kids naughty or bad❓

😤No child is ‘naughty’ they are struggling with something and can’t behave any better at that moment in time. Motivation isn’t a problem, so punishing them when they’re ‘naughty’, or rewarding them when they’re ‘good’ won’t help, but it could make behaviour worse by treating it so superficially.

🥺What is underlying ‘naughty’ behaviour? Can we please stop calling kids naughty or bad❓

😤No child is ‘naughty’ they are struggling with something and can’t behave any better at that moment in time. Motivation isn’t a problem, so punishing them when they’re ‘naughty’, or rewarding them when they’re ‘good’ won’t help, but it could make behaviour worse by treating it so superficially.
